Getting to Seattle:

 

By Air:

Airport: Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA)

By Car:

  • Directions Northbound on I-5 from Portland, OR
    • From I-5 North take the Union Street exit. Turn right onto 4th Avenue and 1 block then turn right onto Pike Street. Once on Pike Street go one block and turn right onto 5th Avenue. The hotel garage and main entrance is on the right hand side of street.
  • Directions Southbound on I-5 from Vancouver, BC
    • From I-5 South take the Union Street exit. Turn right onto 4th Avenue and 1 block then turn right onto Pike Street. Once on Pike Street go one block and turn right onto 5th Avenue. The hotel garage and main entrance is on the right hand side of street.
  • Directions Westbound on I-90 from eastern Washington
    • From I-90 West take the I-5 North exit. From I-5 North take the Madison Street exit and stay in the left hand lane. Take a left onto Madison Street. Go two blocks West on Madison Street and turn right onto 4th Avenue. Go 5 blocks North on 4th Avenue then turn right onto Pike Street. From Pike Street make the next right onto 5th Avenue and the hotel garage and main entrance is on the right hand side of street.

By Train:

    • Drops off at King Street Station, 1.1 miles from hotel. To get from station to hotel:

    o   King County Metro bus, catch at 4th Ave S & S Jackson St; Ask bus driver for arrival stop (will depend on route taken- 41, 71, 72, 73 common ones.) Get off at 3rd ave & Union st.

    o   Fare ranges $2.50-4.25 peak or off-peak; exact change best (drivers don’t give change)

    o   Or cross 4th Ave S to International District Station (on S Weller St) and take Link light rail towards Westlake/Downtown and get off at University Station. Exit towards 3rd Ave and Union St.

    o   From 3rd Ave, turn right onto Union St, and walk two blocks to 5th Ave. Turn left on 5th Ave. Motif Hotel is on the left.

By Greyhound Bus:

  • Drops off at S Royal Brougham Way Station:
  • To walk- head west on S Royal Brougham Way; turn right onto 2nd Ave S; turn right onto S Jackson St; Turn left onto 4th Ave S; turn right onto Pike St; turn right onto 5th Ave (appx 1.5 miles from station to hotel)
  • Light Rail- Cross 6th Ave S to Stadium Light Rail Station (on S Royal Brougham Way) and take Link light rail towards Westlake/Downtown and get off at University Station. Exit towards 3rd Ave and Union St.
    • From 3rd Ave, turn right onto Union St, and walk two blocks to 5th Turn left on 5th Ave. Motif Hotel is on the left.

 

By Bolt Bus:

  • Very limited pick-up locations
  • Need to purchase two one-way tickets (not a round-trip)

Getting from the airport to the hotel:

 

  • Light Rail: $3 one-way
  • From ticketing level at airport, take SkyBridge 6 to Pedestrian Walkway towards the Link Light Rail Station
  • Buy tickets from ticket machines at the Link Light Rail Station with cash or credit card
  • Service is available from 5am-1am Monday – Saturday and from 6am-midnight on Sundays and holidays
  • Take light rail towards Westlake/Downtown and get off at University Station. Exit towards 3rd Ave and Union St.
  • From 3rd Ave, turn right onto Union St, and walk two blocks to 5th Turn left on 5th Ave. Motif Hotel is on the left.
  • Shuttle Express: $27 round trip discounted price (normally $36/person)
  • Includes tax but not gratuity
  • Allows 2 suitcases and 1 carry on per person (presenters may want to book private service)

  • You will arrive at the airport with an open ticket (if reserved in advance), go to desk check-in. Shuttle leaves approximately every 30 minutes.
  • Strongly advised to call ahead and make a reservation so they can have shuttles running more frequently.

  • Rates set by King County, so are the same regardless of taxi company.

King County Bus and Sound Transit Light Rail fare information:

  • Buses will require exact change for boarding, and will include one free transfer good for an hour and a half. The light rail stations will have ticket machines, allowing you to use credit cards.
  • For anyone planning to take the light rail or bus during their time in Seattle, buying an Orca card may be helpful. You can load money onto the Orca card and tap it on the bus and light rail, thereby avoiding cash transactions. You can buy one at the Airport Light Rail station, or any other light rail station. These cards cost $5.
  • $8 regional day passes are available (must also buy Orca card for $5) and accepted on bus, light rail, commuter rail, streetcar and foot ferry services operated by Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit and Sound Transit. (This includes the King County Water Taxi from Downtown to West Seattle.) The Washington State Ferries are NOT included in this.
