Proposal Deadline Friday!

unnamed

Our Region Conference Chair, Andrew Brewick sent out the call, “Each of us has something unique and innovative to share, and I would like to personally invite you to submit a presentation proposal.   No one knows the heart of this work, the profound impact advisors have on student success, better than you.  Presentation proposals will be accepted through Friday, November 21.” Let’s show Andrew he was right and submit our presentation proposals now!

One again, the Deadline is November 21st! THIS FRIDAY! I REPEAT, THIS FRIDAY IS THE DEADLINE!

Possible sessions for a conference centered on this theme may include: Advisor involvement in first-year experience classes; technology that fosters persistence; understanding veteran students and their unique struggles with persistence; research on and techniques to teach mental fitness; advising practices that foster student success; definitions of student success and how advisors play a role in it; and collaborating with administration and faculty committees charged with improving retention.

Andrew shared some additional information with the Region to get us psyched up about the conference. Here is what Andrew had to say…

  • Registration is open now and the room rate at the Coeur d’Alene Resort is fantastic.  So, please register now and secure your room reservation by calling 800-365-8338.  The Resort prefers that you reserve your room over the phone; be sure to indicate you’re part of the NACADA Region 8 conference.
  • In case you need a little extra encouragement, don’t forget that Charlie Nutt, NACADA Executive Director, will be providing one of our two keynote addresses.  And, if you’re still on the fence regarding a presentation proposal, here’s a video message from a young Jedi (Evelyn Brewick, 4 months) encouraging you to share your expertise.  [Public service announcement: video relies heavily on subliminal messages.]
We can’t wait to see all of you in Coeur D’Alene March 11-14th, 2015! For more information including travel, check out the Region 8 Conference website here!
