Conference Logo and…THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS!

Hello Region 8!

A little over 1 month ago, your Region 8 Conference Planning Committee provided us with a glimpse of our next conference. Titled “The Heart of the Matter Advising for Student Success, Persistence, and Retention” the next Region 8 Conference will be held in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho March 11th-13th, 2015. Now, the Planning Committee has more information for you and a request to go along with it!

But wait…there’s more! As I mentioned the conference committee has a request for you! It is time to start thinking about what great presentation you are going to share with your colleagues as we relax at the resort on Lake Coeur D’Alene! That’s Right!!! This is the official call for proposals.

The call for proposals is open, and we will be accepting them until November 21st 2014!

Possible sessions for a conference centered on this theme may include: Advisor involvement in first-year experience classes; technology that fosters persistence; understanding veteran students and their unique struggles with persistence; research on and techniques to teach mental fitness; advising practices that foster student success; definitions of student success and how advisors play a role in it; and collaborating with administration and faculty committees charged with improving retention.
