Awards! Scholarships! Leadership! Oh My! DEADLINE NOVEMBER 4th!!!

IHeartCoWorker_smWe all know that 8 is great! Now let’s show Region 8 that the reason 8 is so great is because of the people in it!

Region 8 Excellence in Advising Awards:

It is time to nominate your colleagues for one of the Region 8 Excellence in Advising Awards! So I want to ask you one thing…Look to your left and then look to your right. Do you see someone sitting in your office who you feel epitomized the greatness that is Region 8? If so, NOMINATE THEM FOR AN AWARD! The Region 8 steering committee is now accepting nominations for the 2014 regional awards. Nominations are open for the following categories:

The submission procedure is simple! Submit a nomination letter, letters of support and a personal philosophy statement! More information on all of these components can be found on the Region 8 Awards Page.

The DEADLINE for these awards is November 4th, 2013! MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDAR. Winners will be announced in early December at recognized in Vancouver in March at the Regional Conference!

Now, you have looked to your right, and you have looked to your left…NOW LOOK IN THE MIRROR! Do you deserve recognition? How does a $500 scholarship sound? What about a chance to be paired with a mentor to help guide you through the wild NACADA world?

NACADA wants to give you support! Take advantage of the opportunities to and support yourself in the process:

Region 8 Scholarship Program:

Once again, Region 8 has the great fortune to offer a $500 scholarship towards conference expenses for the Region 8 Conference in Vancouver B.C.. You may be thinking, oh, I won’t get the single $500 scholarship…but have no fear! WE HAVE 20 $500 scholarships available…THAT’S RIGHT 20!!!

To keep things simple, the deadline remains the same as the awards…The DEADLINE for these scholarships is November 4th, 2013! MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDAR.

Nominations will be evaluated on the alignment their goals for attendance and participation in NACADA both regionally and nationally. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate an understanding of NACADA’s vision, mission and strategic goals.

The submission procedure is simple! There will be several demographic responses required in the submission. Also, with the demographic questions, there will be 4 questions, each will be limited to 500 words or less, which will allow for you to articulate the reasons in which you deserve one of these scholarships!

Winners will be announced in early December at recognized in Vancouver in March at the Regional Conference!

Region 8 Leadership Program:

The Region 8 Leadership program is back for its second year! This year, the Steering Committee will identify up to two leaders and two mentors to be paired for leadership development. The applicant will receive the regional conference fee and NACADA membership fee paid for two years (up to $500 total).

To remind everyone, there is several requirements for the Region 8 Leadership program:

  • Both the Regional Leader and the Regional Mentor must be a member of NACADA at the time of application and maintain that membership throughout the program.
  • The Regional Leader must be interested in becoming involved in leadership positions at the state, regional and/or national/international level.
  • Both the Regional Leader and the Regional Mentor must be willing to commit to a two-year long program and be willing to communicate with each other on a regular basis.
  • The Regional Leader must develop, with Regional Mentor consultation, a written plan for leadership development.
  • Both the Regional Leader and the Regional Mentor must agree to submit a mid-year and annual progress report.
  • Both the Regional Leader and the Regional Mentor must be able to attend the regional conference and participate in activities established for Region 8.
  • The Regional Leader must attend, as a non-voting observer, the Region 8 Steering Committee meetings at all NACADA conferences they attend. Attendance at the Annual NACADA Conference is encouraged but not required.
  • Both the Regional Leader and the Regional Mentor must submit a written report at the end of the program documenting the experience and complete an evaluation of the program.

I think the third time is the charm…the deadline remains the same as the awards…The DEADLINE for the Leadership program is November 4th, 2013! MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDAR.

SO ONE FINAL TIME!!! This process is simple. As we know, all 3 deadlines are set for November 4th, 2013! All you need to do is follow the online submission steps:

  1. Enter a password
  2. Select your region
  3. Select the award which your are applying for
  4. Write down your password just in case you need to come back and finish your application
  5. Enter in all the requested information for each category
  6. If you are requested to upload any documents, they must be in pdf form.
  7. Once you hit submit, the application is final, so if you need to return and finish later, do not hit submit!
